Who Should Consider Switching Long-Term Care Insurance Providers?
A long-term care insurance relocation is intended for people with a recognized long-term care level whose homes cannot be reasonably modified. Stairwells without elevators, narrow doorways, a bathroom on the upper floor. Age is not a factor. We don’t ask for reasons, and we don’t judge. You tell us what’s needed, and we tailor the process accordingly.
Moving into an accessible apartment
When thresholds, narrow doorways, or a bathroom without a walk-in shower make daily life difficult, moving to an accessible apartment is often a better solution than renovating. We help people with disabilities of all ages move and tailor the process to their new home—from the order of the rooms to the placement of every piece of furniture. You decide what goes where; we make it happen.
Senior-Friendly Relocations/Assisted Living
Helping seniors find a senior-friendly apartment, move to a lower floor, or transition to assisted living is part of our day-to-day business. Our moving consultants take the time to address the needs of our older clients. Often, the decision must be made under time pressure—for example, because a discharge date from the hospital has been set. Last-minute appointments are part of our routine, since we have our own vehicles and staff at our disposal. Learn more on our page about moving for seniors.
A real-world example
For the Korschenbroich Senior Living Center in the Neuss district, we relocated all residents to a new building while operations continued as usual.
The challenge lay in the construction delay. The deadline was pushed back, and a new schedule had to be drawn up on short notice. Our crew packed the living areas into boxes and rolling clothing carts, moved the furniture, and unpacked and rearranged everything exactly as it was before. Moving the dementia unit while it remained in operation was a particularly delicate task.
On the evening of their moving day, every resident was able to move into a fully furnished apartment, without having to do any of the work themselves. The project was completed on schedule.

What We Handle When You Switch Long-Term Care Insurance Providers
Furniture Elevator and No-Parking Zone
If there is no elevator or the stairwell is too narrow, we use a furniture lift to bring items in through the window. This saves every meter of carrying through the house. We set up a no-parking zone in front of both apartments so that the truck can park right at the door and distances remain short.
Packaging and Shipping
A private move is the perfect opportunity to sort out items that you no longer need. Moving less means less work and less stress. It also feels liberating to move into your new home with less clutter. By getting rid of items you no longer need, you not only save space, but also make the whole moving process easier.
Dismantling and Rebuilding
We’ll take apart the cabinets, beds, and appliances and reassemble them in the new apartment. We plan to spend our first evening in a fully furnished apartment, not surrounded by boxes.
Store your belongings if your new apartment is smaller
We’ll store the items you want to keep but don’t currently have room for in our video-monitored warehouse in Cologne. There’s no minimum storage period, and containers start at 7 m³. Learn more on our storage page.
The Relocation of Long-Term Care Insurance Funds as a Measure to Improve the Living Environment
Eligibility Requirements for the Grant of Up to 4,180 Euros
According to Section 40(4) of Book XI of the Social Code (SGB), a move covered by long-term care insurance may be considered a measure to improve an individual’s living environment. The subsidy amounts to up to 4,180 euros per measure and person. Eligibility begins as early as Long-Term Care Level 1, which distinguishes this benefit from many others that do not take effect until Long-Term Care Level 2. Funding is provided if the move makes home care possible in the first place, significantly facilitates it, or restores the ability to live independently. This includes moving from an upper floor to the ground floor, moving into a barrier-free or senior-friendly apartment, moving into assisted living, and moving closer to the caregiver.
What We Do and What We Don't Do
We do not provide advice regarding long-term care insurance, do not file claims, and do not bill your insurance provider. Your long-term care insurance provider and independent long-term care counseling agencies are responsible for these matters. What we provide is the basis for your claim, namely A written, fixed-price quote with a clear scope of services. You can find the most important information about deadlines, maximum amounts, and eligibility requirements in our FAQs.

FAQs
Does the long-term care insurance provider cover the costs of moving to a long-term care facility?
As a rule, a subsidy of up to 4,180 euros is available, starting as early as Care Level 1. The decision is made by your long-term care insurance provider on a case-by-case basis. We do not provide advice on eligibility requirements or the application process; your long-term care insurance provider and independent long-term care counseling agencies are responsible for that.
When do I need to submit the application to the long-term care insurance fund?
Before the move. If you submit the application after you’ve moved out, the insurance providers will typically reject it. Also, keep in mind that it may take several weeks to determine a care level if you don’t already have one.
How does a move covered by long-term care insurance differ from a regular private move?
The schedule is more tightly organized and tailored to the new apartment. We use a furniture lift and set up a no-parking zone, completely reassemble the furniture, and provide a fixed-price quote that serves as the basis for the application to the long-term care insurance fund.
What happens to the furniture that isn't being moved?
We’ll store anything that doesn’t fit in your new apartment for you, with no minimum storage period. You decide whether to sell or dispose of the items—we don’t handle that for you.
Do you also install lights and blinds?
Yes. We’ll install the ceiling lights and put up the blinds so the apartment is ready to use in the evening.
Do you also help people move outside of Cologne?
Yes. Cologne, Bonn, Düsseldorf, Neuss, and the rest of North Rhine-Westphalia are part of our service area—we also handle moves throughout Germany.
Can family members take care of everything?
Yes. We receive many inquiries from children or caregivers. We’ll coordinate with the person you provide us with.
